Job Title: Executive Director

Department: Executive Leadership

Reports to: Board of Directors

FLSA: Full-time, In-Person employee

Summary: A visionary leader, the Executive Director plays a critical role in the success of the Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic (WPC). The role of Executive Director is to ensure that the Mission and Vision of the WPC are carried out in full and positioned for success now and well into the future. A true servant leader, the Executive Director maintains full responsibility for guiding all clinic activities, AAAHC Accreditation, staff, and volunteers, as well as maintaining community image, programs, and church relations. The Executive Director works alongside clinic staff to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational excellence.

Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Exhibit a strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity while communicating compassionately with people from all faiths, viewpoints, and walks of life.

Express full agreement with WPC’s Statement of Principle, Mission Statement, Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

Comply with the policies and procedures of the WPC.

Possess a track record of success in leadership positions. The ED must be able to lead by example, demonstrating to staff and clinic volunteers that no job is too small.

Steady and professional in both behavior and appearance. Capable of being in the clinic, punctual, and following through on commitments.

Be able to provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, and support to WPC’s personnel and ministry partners.

Public speaking skills are often required. The ED must serve as the “face” of the ministry to the outside community. This may include (but is not limited to) speaking about the clinic at various events, attending church or community events as a representative of the WPC, and interfacing with the media on important topics pertaining to the clinic.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college/university; or four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Able to read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Able to effectively present information and respond clearly and professionally to questions from staff, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills:

The successful individual will have knowledge or experience with Database software; Development software; Internet software; Excel, and Word

The Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic is a clean, professional, and Christ-centered ministry and all employees are expected to represent the values of the WPC in and out of the office. Treating clients with care, respect, and discretion is of paramount importance. The ED must be a person of integrity, encouraging the staff through servant leadership and open communication.

Current CPR Certification

Other Skills & Abilities:

Must demonstrate strong written and spoken communication skills. Interpersonal/relational skills and the ability to work with individuals, small, and large groups of people. Public speaking skills. Strong organizational skills.

Essential Functions:

Management and Administration

  • Provide direction and managerial support for all staff and volunteers
  • Conduct annual written and oral evaluations of personnel
  • Maintain a full understanding of all policies and procedures for WPC
  • Approve master calendar for the Clinic
  • Develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and vision of the WPC
  • Oversee Compliance and AAAHC Accreditation of WPC
  • Provide oversight for all programs, services and activities to ensure that program objectives are met

Fiscal

  • Prepare and present annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Monitor annual budget
  • Ensure that accurate and current financial records are kept and reported to the Board monthly
  • Authorize expenditures for unbudgeted expenses
  • Present requests to the Board for approval of major expenditures that are substantially over the approved budget

Development

  • The Executive Director must be a visionary leader with the ability to see, articulate, and implement an action-oriented plan for the growth of the WPC (5-year plan, 10-year plan, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Community Development Director (CDD) to execute major fundraising initiatives
  • Work with CDD to execute programs directed at church support
  • Participate in visibility of the clinic in the community
  • Actively work to grow donor base and clientele

Personnel

  • Administer board approved personnel policies
  • Ensure proper hiring and termination procedures
  • Oversee all disciplinary action
  • Give guidance and input to each department

Board Relations

  • Assist the Board President in planning the agenda and material for the board meetings
  • Initiate and assist in developing policy recommendations and in setting priorities
  • Assist in the orientation of new board members
  • Work with the Board through the CDD to raise funds from the community
  • Either attend or send designee to board meetings
  • Ensure monthly reports are given to the Board from personnel
  • Communicate with Accountability partner as needed
  • ED will be evaluated annually by President and/or designee

Public Relations

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of community relations in furthering the mission and vision of the WPC
  • Represent the WPC and its services to the community and the media
  • Coordinate representation of the WPC to legislative bodies and other groups as needed
  • Oversee promotional materials used in promoting the clinic
