POSITION SUMMARY:

The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership for MFB's Tri-State Division in Sioux Falls, SD. This leader is accountable for advancing the mission, strengthening the division's financial sustainability, and delivering excellent service through effective fundraising, food procurement and distribution, community engagement, volunteer mobilization, and team leadership.


The?Executive Director provides key interface with the Division Advisory board, division employees and volunteers, and the MFB National organization.? The Executive Director will maintain clear and appropriate communication with the Divisional Advisory Board members.? The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring food service programs are executed with efficient use of the facilities, employees, and volunteers.? The Executive Director will support MFB budgeting, reporting, system, tax adherence, and other requirements for a non-profit.? The Executive Director will represent MFB to the community and will develop strategic relationships to advance the MFB mission.?


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic & Organizational Leadership

• Translate MFB's mission, strategic direction, and annual priorities into an actionable division plan with measurable goals.
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable the division team while fostering a Christ-centered culture of service, trust, collaboration, and excellence.
• Partner with the Division Advisory Board by providing timely information, engaging members in strategic priorities, and maintaining clear communication and appropriate governance boundaries.
• Collaborate with national leaders and peers across MFB to share practices, align resources, and advance organization-wide priorities.

Fundraising, Development & Community Engagement

• Lead the division's fundraising strategy to meet or exceed an annual operating goal of $[amount] and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
• Personally cultivate, solicit, steward, and recognize donors, foundations, churches, businesses, and community partners.
• Build MFB's local visibility and reputation by representing the organization with civic, faith, nonprofit, business, and media audiences.
• Develop strategic relationships and partnerships that expand financial support, food resources, volunteer engagement, and community impact.

Operations & Program Excellence

• Provide executive oversight of food procurement, warehousing, and distribution totaling approximately $[amount] in food and resources annually.
• Ensure reliable, efficient, and respectful service to nonprofit partner agencies across the division's service area.
• Oversee facilities, property, equipment, safety, security, maintenance, and business continuity in coordination with appropriate team members.
• Monitor operational performance and use data to improve service, productivity, quality, and responsible use of resources.

People & Volunteer Leadership

• Directly or indirectly lead all division employees, including hiring, onboarding, goal setting, coaching, development, performance management, and, when necessary, corrective action or separation.
• Build a strong volunteer culture that equips people to serve meaningfully and supports the division's ongoing and special-event needs.
• Promote teamwork across employees, volunteers, partner agencies, advisory board members, and national functions.
• Ensure appropriate staffing, succession planning, and leadership development to support current operations and future growth.

Financial Stewardship, Compliance & Risk

• Develop and manage the division's annual budget, financial performance, and resource allocation in partnership with MFB leadership.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting and adherence to MFB systems, policies, internal controls, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.
• Identify and manage operational, financial, safety, reputational, and compliance risks; elevate material concerns promptly.
• Safeguard MFB's assets and reputation through ethical decision-making, sound judgment, and transparent communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5-years relevant work experience, 10-years desired
• Bachelor's degree in non-profit, business, marketing, finance or related field
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, oversee program implementation and deliver results
• Experience in community engagement, preferably across the greater Sioux Falls area
• Ability to?foster?team-oriented work environment?and achievements through others
• Proven?initiative, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills
• Excellent?professional communications, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Ability to use technology or learn computer skills, such as Office 365 and Salesforce
• Willingness to participate in training that may include?development of professional skills,?education?on MFB's policies and procedures,?and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.?

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments, with regular interaction among employees, volunteers, donors, visitors, and partner agencies.
• Frequent periods of sitting and computer use, along with regular standing and walking throughout the facility and warehouse.
• Regular local travel for donor, community, agency, and partner engagement; occasional out-of-state and overnight travel.
• Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities related to events, community engagement, disaster response, or other division needs.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
