POSITION TITLE: Senior Youth Development Professional

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO:                     Club Director

SALARY/FLSA STATUS:   Part Time/Hourly

AREA:                                   Pinellas County

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Club Director, the Senior Youth Development Professional will assist with planning and leading activities that focus on belonging and opportunity through academic success, health & well-being, life skills & leadership, and workforce readiness. The Senior YDP will serve as a role model to our Club members while helping young people build the skills, confidence, and opportunities that shape their future. The Senior YDP may also perform administrative tasks necessary for the proper maintenance of membership records, including the maintenance of the membership tracking system, My ClubHub, and providing all necessary clerical support for the Club Director and other program staff. The Senior YDP will also act as a mentor to new Youth Development Professionals.

COMPETENCIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership 

• Model the mission, vision, ICARE values, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay; and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.

Staff Development

• Participate in weekly staff meetings and various team-oriented activities.
• Supports and maintains a productive work environment while working as a member of the team.
• Mentor new Youth Development Professionals.

Supportive Relationships

• Excel in customer service to effectively communicate with Club members, staff, and visitors to include parents, volunteers, or other community members.

  Collaboration and Partnerships 

• Assist staff members in the absence of other youth development professionals or work on some weekends and/or extended hours for special events and/or programs or support other Club locations within a reasonable geography.
• Maintains daily contact with Club Director, Club staff, members, and families.

Safe and Positive Environment 

• Prioritizes members and Club safety through active supervision and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Actively participates with members and collaborates with colleagues to create a positive environment with clear and respectful communication.

Program Development and Implementation

• Effectively plans and leads age-appropriate activities while ensuring a fun and engaging environment for Club members.
• Help foster a sense of community and belonging among Club members

Data Entry/ Clerical 

• Data entry and updates to information contained within the membership tracking system, My ClubHub and member file management which includes gathering necessary documents and authorization forms.
• Manage daily sign-in and sign-out processes which include verification of parent or other approved adult identification.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED required; some college or college degree preferred.
• 2-3 years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization preferred. 
• Must be able to clear a level II background screening ( and drug screening through one of our vendors.
• Must have Staff Member in Charge (SMIC) credentials or able to obtain within 6 months of hire. 
• Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by our insurance carrier (minimum age 21). 
• Planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people highly preferred.
• Complete the required 40 hours of DCF training within one year of employment, including any training due within the first 90 days and all required in-person exams.
• Successfully complete organization sponsored CPR training within 90 days of hire.
• Additional training may be required for continuing education and professional development. 
• Must have intermediate computer knowledge and skills. Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook preferred. 

TRAVEL:

Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Pinellas counties for training and professional development or other business purposes.

The employee is occasionally required to bend and lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

environment is usually moderate - high. Flexibility to working schedules may be required due to changing needs.
