Job Summary
Melby & Associates is experiencing growth serving businesses and individuals throughout Florida and beyond. We pride ourselves on delivering personalized service while leveraging technology and efficienct processes to help clients make informed financial decisions.
We are seeking a knowledgeable Tax Professional to join our team. In this role, you will prepare clients’ tax filings and advise them on strategies to maximize savings and make sound financial decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of tax laws and best practices in tax preparation. We are searching for someone who is personable, organized adn comfortable meeting with clients while working alongside senior leadership to grow the firm and enhance services provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial meetings with potential clients to discuss the services offered and estimates of cost
- Educate clients on the tax submission process
- Analyze income statements, previous tax returns, and other financial records to determine taxable income
- Provide sound advice to clients on minimizing their tax obligations
- File taxes in an accurate and timely manner
Work with partners and staff to meet filing deadlines
- Maintain organized workpapers and documentation
- Communicate with tax authorities when necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in accounting.
- Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
- Previous experience as a Tax Professional, 3+ yrs preferred
- CPA or EA a plus
- Knowledge of federal and state tax laws
- Experience with business and individual returns, multi-state a plus
- Skilled in QuickBooks Desktop and Online, Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Experience with Thomson Reuters Suite: UltraTax, Practice, Fixed Asset, File Cabinet
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and to seek counsel of senior staff
