Medical Assistant – Dermatology

Halsey Dermatology is an independent practice providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services to children and adults on Long Island’s East End. We are seeking a friendly, dependable Medical Assistant who enjoys working with people and wants to learn and grow in health care.

Paid training is provided. Previous medical-assisting experience is welcome, but not required. We encourage applications from candidates with vocational medical-assisting training or transferable experience in medical reception, dental assisting, and other patient-facing roles. A college degree is preferred, not required.

About the role

You will work alongside our physician and clinical team to support patient care and help keep the office organized and running smoothly. Responsibilities include:

• Welcoming and rooming patients;
  obtaining and recordingvital signs, medications, and relevant health information.
• Documenting patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
• Assisting with patient care and coordination as directed by the physician and clinical team.
• Preparing, restocking, cleaning, and disinfecting examination rooms, procedure rooms, and patient care areas.
• Organizing patient care documents and supporting routine administrative tasks.
• Protecting patient confidentiality and communicating courteously with patients and colleagues.
• Performing other related clinical and administrative duties as assigned.

• Comfort using computers and a willingness to learn our electronic medical record system.
• An interest in skin care and medical and cosmetic dermatology.
• Ability to reliably commute to our Sag Harbor office Monday through Friday.

Helpful qualifications—not requirements

• Medical-assisting experience or vocational training.
• Experience in medical reception, dental assisting, or another patient-facing role.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Spanish language proficiency.
