About this position
The Institutional Research Analyst supports the College's strategic planning, decision-making, accreditation, and assessment activities through the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of institutional data. The position serves as the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment's primary operational analyst, coordinating internal data requests, administering institutional assessment technologies including HelioCampus and course evaluations, managing external survey submissions, developing reports and dashboards, and supporting institutional reporting initiatives. The Analyst collaborates extensively with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure accurate, timely, and meaningful information is available to support institutional effectiveness.
- Independently collect, prepare, refine, validate, and manage data from institutional systems and external sources to support decision-making.
- Coordinate and manage responses to internal data requests from faculty, staff, administrators, and committees.
- Coordinate data collection and submission for external surveys and ranking organizations (e.g., ICUF, U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review, Common Data Set, Peterson's, and similar initiatives).
- Serve as the primary technical administrator for HelioCampus Assessment, including configuration, troubleshooting, user support, training, and reporting.
- Administer the College's course evaluation process, including scheduling, reporting, monitoring response rates, and supporting academic departments.
- Design, develop, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI and other business intelligence tools.
- Develop workflow automations and process improvements using Microsoft Power Automate and related Microsoft Power Platform tools.
- Support institutional assessment, accreditation, and mandatory reporting initiatives through data collection, validation, analysis, and documentation.
- Maintain documentation for institutional reporting processes, business rules, data definitions, and reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand information needs and recommend effective reporting solutions.
- Contribute to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, mathematics, computer science, or related field is required.
- Work experience in a research related field or evidence of experience working with enterprise software, relational databases, quantitative analysis, statistics, and survey design.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office, SPSS, and SQL.
- Proficiency with Power BI, and other business intelligence tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.
- Keen attention to detail, precision in work, and adeptness at meeting stringent deadlines; strong oral and written communication skills, professional conduct, and a positive demeanor; commitment to upholding confidentiality and respecting the privacy of shared information.
- Experience with HelioCampus, Jenzabar, Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps.
- Command of terms, definitions, standards, and sources of information in higher education.
- Experience with mandatory federal, state, and accreditation reports.
- Strong technical skills and programming experience with statistical packages (e.g., SPSS) and programming languages (R, Python).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position primarily performs sedentary work in an office environment. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while using a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment to analyze data, prepare reports, and manage institutional databases. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry, as well as clear vision to read computer screens and printed materials, is required. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms. Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, such as files, office supplies, or presentation materials, may be required. The position may also require occasional travel across campus to attend meetings, training sessions, or assessment activities. WORKING CONDITIONS This position is in-office and not intended for remote work. It is performed primarily in a professional office environment with a climate-controlled indoor setting. The work involves extensive use of computers, data management systems, and standard office equipment while supporting institutional research, assessment, accreditation, and reporting activities. The employee regularly interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, and external organizations through meetings, email, telephone, and virtual communication platforms. The work requires sustained concentration, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while handling sensitive and confidential institutional information. Occasional travel across campus to attend meetings, training sessions, or support institutional initiatives may be required. Evening or extended hours may occasionally be necessary to meet reporting deadlines, accreditation requirements, survey administration timelines, or other institutional priorities. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT The routine duties of this position do not require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Standard office safety practices apply. If the employee visits areas where PPE is required, such as laboratories, maintenance facilities, or construction sites, appropriate PPE may be provided and must be worn in accordance with College policies and applicable safety regulations.
