As our design studio expands, we are seeking an exceptional Senior Associate to join our team. Reporting directly to the Director of Design, the Senior Associate will play a critical role in executing project work, driving technical drawing precision, and managing day-to-day project workflows from initial concept through construction administration. This individual will serve as a project leader and primary execution anchor within the studio, translating high-level design vision into buildable, impeccably detailed realities while helping guide and mentor junior design staff. This is a role for a talented, detail-oriented design professional who pairs strong creative instincts with rigorous technical discipline and project management capability. The Senior Associate serves as the critical engine of project execution within the studio. Working in close partnership with the Director of Design, this role is responsible for leading individual project workflows, ensuring construction documentation is accurate and buildable, and maintaining seamless coordination with Estimating, Procurement, and Field Installation teams. While the Director of Design provides studio-wide oversight, resource planning, and creative direction, the Senior Associate takes direct ownership of project deliverables, day-to-day client presentation production, and the technical precision necessary to deliver projects on time and on budget. Responsibilities: Project Execution & Design Development Lead the day-to-day development of design projects from initial schematic concepts through detailed construction documentation. Translate creative direction into clear, comprehensive, and buildable drawing sets using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D modeling tools. Coordinate closely with Estimating and Procurement during the drawing phase to ensure material availability, budget alignment, and technical feasibility. Manage client-facing project milestones to ensure all design deliverables are completed on schedule and meet the firm's quality standards. Collaborate actively with Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Teams to resolve technical details and ensure effective project execution. Perform site visits and site analyses to verify existing conditions, measurements, etc before finalizing documentation. Support construction administration by reviewing submittals, answering field RFIs, and ensuring design intent is accurately realized on site during installation. Client Relationship Management Prepare and assemble client presentation packages, rendering sets, and budget proposals. Lead project meetings and presentation walkthroughs in partnership with or in lieu of the Director of Design for key accounts. Maintain proactive, clear communication with clients, partner architects, interior designers, and general contractors to foster trust and ensure alignment. Provide daily technical guidance, drawing review, and mentorship to Associates and Junior Designers. Support the Director of Design in establishing consistent drafting standards, drawing templates, and studio quality-control procedures. Maintain accurate time-tracking and project scope management to ensure design hours remain within budgeted targets. Required Skills At Harrison Green, we believe exceptional leaders can come from a variety of backgrounds. While many candidates may come from landscape architecture, architecture, or interior design, we welcome individuals whose experience demonstrates the creative, commercial, and leadership capabilities required to excel in this role. You bring a proven background in a spatial design discipline such as high-end interior design, architecture, residential landscape architecture, or luxury experiential design. You are highly comfortable reviewing plans, elevations, construction details, lighting and furniture layouts, and material specifications, and possess the ability to guide projects from concept through execution. Commercial Acumen You understand that great design and business success go hand in hand. You have experience managing project schedules, budgets, and profitability targets while maintaining exceptional standards of quality and client service. Client Mastery You are an accomplished relationship builder and communicator with extensive experience presenting design concepts, cultivating client trust, and securing high-value engagements. You are confident leading conversations with discerning clients and translating vision into action. Team Development You have a demonstrated track record of mentoring, and inspiring creative teams. You establish accountability, foster collaboration, and help designers grow professionally while delivering work on schedule and at the highest standard. Preferred Skills Experience delivering high-end residential, boutique commercial, or hospitality projects within New York City or comparable metropolitan markets, with a strong understanding of the design, construction, and client-service demands unique to luxury urban environments. Knowledge of exterior materials, custom fabrication, construction detailing, and planting design. A degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
