Understands the procedures being performed and can anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during the procedure. Transports to the decontamination room upon completion of the surgical procedure.Prepares and maintains equipment and surgical instruments in the OR suite and ensures their proper set-up. Responsible for all instruments, maintaining them in good working order, and assuring the availability of needed instruments to perform all surgical cases.Maintains sterile field and counts all instruments, sponges, needles, etc. needed for each case. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.Cleans, assembles, and prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies for sterilization when needed. Follows proper sterilization processes.
