Teach For America is a national nonprofit that offers a full-time, paid, two‑year teaching opportunity for college seniors, graduate students, and early‑career professionals who want high‑stakes work, tangible early responsibility, and a first role that will genuinely shape where they go next. Through our two‑year teaching corps, we place and support people who teach full‑time in under‑resourced public schools. You’ll drive student learning, build trust with families, and gain a ground‑level understanding of how broader issues like housing, healthcare, and economic mobility shape students’ lives. Corps members build durable skills, earn hands‑on, career‑building experience, and join a network committed to expanding opportunity. What You’ll Do: Teach two years full‑time in an under‑resourced public school Build genuine relationships with students and families — not just lesson plans Learn to navigate the barriers kids face inside and outside the classroom Sharpen your communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills through daily classroom leadership Work alongside your school community to remove obstacles and open doors for students who need it most Start Date: Late Spring 2027 Who This Is For: TFA is built for people from all majors and backgrounds who have strong leadership potential, a record of follow‑through and impact, and are genuinely committed to the students and communities they’ll serve. Most importantly, you don’t just want to lead — you want to serve alongside the communities you’re part of. 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher Bachelor’s degree (in any field of study) Must be a citizen, national, or legal resident of the United States, EAD holder, or have DACA status No background in education or teaching certification required—candidates from all majors and experience levels are encouraged to apply What You’ll Gain: Employment by a school district with full salary, health insurance, vacation time, and benefits Training, coaching, and ongoing support to help you lead your classroom and support student learning Hands‑on experience working at the intersection of education and broader social issues like healthcare, housing, and economic mobility Transferable skills—communication, judgment, adaptability, relationship building—that prepare you to lead in any field, from education and law to business, public service, and beyond A chance to make a meaningful impact—on students, communities, and your own growth $57,000‑$67,000 per year + benefits (e.g., medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, life insurance, retirement plans, etc.) — salary varies based on teaching region Teach For America provides every incoming corps member with a baseline stipend of $3,000–$6,500 to help with living expenses during summer training and essential upfront costs such as rent, transportation, or licensure exams — amount varies by region. An additional automatic $3,000 grant is available for Pell Grant recipients and those from low‑income backgrounds who do not receive federal student aid (for individuals graduating on/after 7/1/24). Additional need‑based grants and interest‑free loans are available by application to all corps members AmeriCorps benefits—including federal loan forbearance, interest accrual payments, and education awards—may be available depending on funding and program approval Pathway to teaching certification Intensive teaching and leadership training and classroom preparation After the corps, TFA’s Career Center helps alumni connect their classroom experience to grad school, fellowships, and next‑step roles across fields—giving you a structured path forward Access to a network of 70,000+ TFA alumni leaders across multiple fields and sectors What’s Next: Join Teach For America in any of our 40+ regions across the United States.
