The Strategic Sourcing Manager – Steel & Fabrication is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships, and supply continuity initiatives for steel-related commodities and fabricated components supporting multiple manufacturing facilities across North and Latin America. This role will develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives focused on raw steel, outsourced steel fabrication, roll-formed shapes, galvanizing services, and key steel-based supplier partnerships. The position plays a critical role in ensuring material availability, managing market volatility, driving cost competitiveness, and strengthening supplier performance while supporting operational, quality, and growth objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Own strategic sourcing, supplier management, and supply continuity for steel-related commodities and fabricated components supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for:

• Raw steel procurement
\n
• Steel outsourcing and fabricated assemblies
\n
• Roll-formed shapes
\n
• Galvanizing services
\n
• Steel-intensive supplier categories
\n
• Lead commercial and operational management of key suppliers.
\n
• Negotiate pricing agreements, contracts, capacity commitments, and long-term supplier partnerships to support business objectives.

• Monitor steel market trends, pricing indices, mill dynamics, coating availability, tariffs, and supply risks to proactively manage cost and continuity.
\n
• Drive supplier performance improvements related to:

• Capacity planning

• Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to cost savings, purchase price variance (PPV), on-time delivery (OTD), quality, and supply risk.

• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Planning, and Quality teams to support:

• New product launches

• Capacity expansion
\n
• Dual sourcing initiatives
\n
• Risk mitigation plans
\n
• Material transitions
\n
• Supplier and material qualifications
\n
• Lead supply continuity efforts during allocation environments, shortages, or market disruptions.

• Support annual cost-reduction targets and strategic sourcing initiatives.
\n
• Ensure suppliers meet company requirements related to:

• Quality systems
\n
• Compliance
\n
• Country-of-origin documentation
\n
• Trade regulations
\n
• Sustainability expectations
\n
• Conduct supplier business reviews, site visits, and executive-level supplier escalations as needed.

• Maintain strong collaboration with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and Commercial teams.

• Align sourcing activities closely with the SIOP process and broader business planning initiatives.

NATURE & SCOPE

\n

The Strategic Sourcing Manager – Steel & Fabrication leads sourcing activities for steel-related commodities and fabricated components supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.

\n

This role is responsible for supply continuity, cost management, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing initiatives across the steel supply base.

\n

Primary responsibilities include managing supplier relationships and sourcing activities related to raw steel, outsourced fabrication, roll-formed components, galvanizing services, and steel-intensive manufactured products supporting production operations across multiple manufacturing facilities.

\n

This position works closely with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Quality, and supplier leadership teams to support production continuity, capacity planning, new program launches, material qualifications, and long-term sourcing strategies.

\n

The individual is also responsible for managing supplier escalations, monitoring steel market conditions, identifying supply chain risks, and driving continuous improvement within the supply base.

\n

The role requires strong commercial acumen, supplier relationship management, steel market knowledge, and the ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, multi-site manufacturing environments.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred.
\n
• 7+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience within manufacturing environments.
\n
• Strong knowledge of steel commodities, fabricated components, and industrial supply markets.
\n
• Experience negotiating complex supplier agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
\n
• Ability to analyze market conditions, cost drivers, pricing trends, and operational risks.
\n
• Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
\n
• Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
