Hiring Department UMKC's Office of Human Resources Job Description UMKC Human Resources is seeking a highly organized,customer-focused professional to join our HR Operations team. Thisrole serves as a key operational partner supporting Human ResourcesBusiness Partners, campus departments, managers, and employeesthroughout the employee lifecycle. The HR Operations Specialist is responsible for processing andadministering a wide range of human resources transactions whileensuring data accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customerservice. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong attentionto detail, maintain the highest level of confidentiality, andpossess a continuous improvement mindset, and be able to thrive ina fast past environment behind the scenes. Key Responsibilities Process and administer a high volume of HR transactions,including hires, onboarding, job changes, transfers, additional payrequests, status changes, separations, and other employee lifecycleevents. Coordinate payroll processing for exempt and non-exemptemployees by reviewing timekeeping records, processing pay-relatedtransactions and adjustments and ensuring payroll accuracy andcompliance within applicable university policies andprocedures. Serve as a resource to employees, managers, and HR BusinessPartners by providing guidance on HR Operations processes andprocedures. Partner with HR Business Partners and campus departments toensure timely and accurate processing of personnel actions. Review HR transactions for accuracy, completeness, andcompliance with university policies and federal and staterequirements. Maintain employee records and electronic personnel filesthrough the eHRFile system, ensuring proper documentation andrecord retention practices. Collaborate across the HR Operations team to provide seamlessservice, share knowledge, and support departmental coverageneeds. Monitor and maintain data integrity within HR systems,researching and resolving discrepancies as they arise. Support audits, reporting needs, and compliance-relatedactivities. Participate in special projects, testing, and implementationefforts related to HR processes and systems. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitiveemployee, departmental, and organizational information. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of universitypolicies, HR best practices, and applicable employment laws andregulations. Minimum Qualifications An associate degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparableknowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications At least two years in customer service in a professionalsetting. Experience working in a higher education is a plus. Demonstrated ability to provide professional and responsiveservice to broad customer base. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintainingaccurate records and data. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competingdeadlines in a fast-paced environment. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been establishedas up to $21.00/hr Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but notlimited to, the individual’s particular combination of education,skills, and experience, as well as organizationalrequirements.
