Must-Have: Oncology experience is a must. Nurses will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding. Experience with titrating drips such as Heparin and Cardizem is required.

Description: The unit consists of 28 beds with patient ratios of 1:4-5. Patients will be a combination of oncology and general medical-surgical cases. The unit also houses a hospice inpatient program. Full telemetry management, including reading and interpreting telemetry strips, is essential. Charge nurses are present on each shift and typically do not take patients. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work in the unit as part of the care team. During night shifts, two CNAs support the 28 beds. Respiratory Therapists manage CPAP and BiPap equipment. Nurses will perform nebulizer treatments and suctioning for tracheostomy patients. There is a central monitoring unit for telemetry. Nurses will float within the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry service line as needed. Professional-looking scrubs are required, with no t-shirts allowed. Teamwork is emphasized in providing patient care. The unit may require experience with central lines and port access, including changing sterile dressings. Shifts include weekends, with rotation including holidays with permanent staff. Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shift cancellations per assignment. Charting is done using an electronic health record system.
