THE ROLE The statewide TFA Florida Regions are seeking a temporary, part-time, Storytelling & Social Media temp to source, create, and publish stories for external communications and social media content, as well as contribute to forward-thinking projects that require platform knowledge, good judgment and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about finding and telling stories of impact, developing and maintaining online communities, and is interested in building their expertise in online audience growth and engagement. As a temporary member of the External Affairs and Marketing and Communications Team in Florida, you will bring your voice and experience/passion for our mission and the communities where we work, and you will hone your expertise in purpose-driven community building, content curation and amplification, and social care. You are well-organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and are able to communicate clearly and accurately with a strong sense of voice and tone. You pay strong attention to the smallest of details and you have superb project management skills and take pride in meeting your goals. You are a self-starter and take initiative on projects/tasks. You follow through on tasks, both big and small, and set high standards for their completion. THE PERSON Social Media Content Curation and Management – 70% Work directly with members of the external affairs team, program Team, corps members, and alumni to create ongoing content for our various social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin) ● Write daily and weekly content for all Florida social channels (Facebook/Instagram/Linkedin/Twitter); Manage the social media editorial calendar and ensure the content is published by the stipulated deadlines ● Serve as internal point of contact for social media platforms including Facebook/Instagram/Linkedin/Twitter; check and respond to all messages that come through on social media platforms within 24 hours ● Manage a proactive, comprehensive communications calendar and generate ideas for monthly themes, campaigns, and content ● Interact with social media audiences in accordance to brand guidelines to grow and keep the community alive ● Support content production by inputting stories and other content into our scheduling app, Sprout Social, ensuring proper formatting and functionality; and assuming responsibility for occasional production projects such as content updates or new features ● Keep up to date to the latest social media trends and emerging social media platforms in the industry ● Work with members of the External Affairs team to build out and manage our three Twitter accounts to create focused content specific to our media and legislative audiences ● Regularly assess the effectiveness of our key messages across all social media platforms in order to determine how different stakeholder groups are engaging with our content, and our statewide strategy moving forward. ● Source stories by regularly reaching out to and engaging with corps members, alumni, coaches, and staff; conduct interviews and take or source photos for social media content Social Media Data Analysis – 15% Analyze social media trends and create reports on effectiveness of posts ● Generate bi-weekly reports on overall community sentiment, content performance and notable trends and provide meaningful feedback to to the broader External Affairs team to inform content strategy ● Analyze our social media community, identifying trends in terms of alumni, corps member, community partner, donor & other audience engagement ● Support the team in developing a shared set of metrics that define “engagement” on our platforms Other Responsibilities – 15% ● Join team meetings to report on social media campaigns, as needed ● Work with a collaboratively statewide with teams to generate ideas for monthly content - host meetings to source subjects and people for content aligned to monthly campaigns and themes ● Create reports that could be presented to management and the broader team to create transparency around social media effectiveness ● Collaborate with sub-teams to determine what network announcements can be shared on our social media pages or stories ● Update the regional websites to reflect new information, such as staff or board changes ● Serve as the point of contact for the RCMD and national communications team and assist with local media communications ● Support the program team with projects and events that require communications or design support ● Regularly provide updates to staff on major communications or stories that should be shared with their external audiences THE PERSON - You’re eager to learn more, support, and partner with the External Affairs and Marketing and Communications team on the communications and marketing strategy, but specifically our storytelling and social media strategy. - You are an avid, active, and adept social media user, and are eager to support the team in evolving through rapid changes in each platform. - You are deeply committed to the mission of achieving educational equity and ensuring every student has access to an excellent education. - You believe in the power of social media to create conversation and motivate audiences to act. You are a clear and concise communicator and write so others take notice. - You are creative in your ability to source, generate and pair photos, videos and graphics with written content to tell a compelling story. - You are deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and believe that diversity is crucial for persuasive storytelling and successful change efforts. THE MUST HAVES - 4+ years experience developing social media content and experience using social publishing and reporting is strongly preferred. - Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management, especially in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment managing multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional writing and editing skills; excellent spelling, grammar, tone and voice. - Strong team and customer service orientation. - Ability to work independently and with a spirit of flexibility. - Ability to anticipate needs and take action proactively, creatively and strategically. - Strong interpersonal communication skills. - High level of discretion and excellent judgment, operating with a high level of personal responsibility. - Highly responsive, organized, and proactive. - Experience in brand management and communications preferred. - Experience in using design platforms such as Canva preferred. This position is scoped for 10 hours per week, with possible additional hours during peak periods. THE HIRING PROCESS Applicants will be considered by TFA Florida Regions’ Director of Communications and Marketing and other team leaders. After the initial screening, candidates who best fit the role will be emailed an opportunity to interview as well as share work samples aligned to competencies required for the role. After the interview an additional interview and reference check may be required. We aim to conclude the hiring process within about 6 weeks.
