Responsibilities

As an NC Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in our mission by providing compassionate, peer-based support to individuals navigating challenges in their lives. Drawing on your own lived experiences, you will help others heal, rebuild, and thrive by fostering trust, offering guidance, and connecting them to resources within our ecosystem of care.

In this role, you will:

• Build supportive, trusting relationships with individuals seeking assistance.
• Share your experiences to inspire hope and demonstrate pathways to recovery.
• Assist individuals in accessing resources related to mental health, housing, employment, and life skills.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure a seamless and interconnected support system.
• Empower individuals to set and achieve their personal goals, fostering long-term stability and growth.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings a unique combination of empathy, experience, and dedication to this role. To succeed, you’ll need:

• At least 1 year of experience in a peer support or related role.
• Lived experience with mental health, reentry, or similar challenges, and a passion for using your journey to help others.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
• A collaborative mindset and a commitment to the mission of Golden Age Foundation.
