Responsibilities

• Draw blood specimens from patients using proper techniques, including pediatric and geriatric collections
• Prepare blood samples for laboratory testing with attention to detail and accuracy
• Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures and patient data
• Explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence
• Follow established safety and confidentiality practices to ensure a professional environment
• Perform specimen collection and processing duties according to approved procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors and process excellence in daily tasks

Required Skills

• Strong phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and record keeping
• Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume setting

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification required in certain states (California, Nevada, Washington)
• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, with experience in a patient service center environment preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
• Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record if applicable
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in busy clinical settings
