Project Accountant

Project Accountant Gainesville, VA Are you an accounting professional who enjoys partnering with operations, managing project financials, and driving visibility into project performance? We are partnering with a growing organization seeking a Project Accountant to support financial oversight across a portfolio of projects. What You'll Do Own the financial integrity of project budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting. Partner with project managers to analyze project performance and profitability. Manage purchase order tracking, reconciliation, and project-related financial reporting. Prepare and distribute monthly customer billings while supporting collections activities. Perform month-end and year-end project close processes. Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and cost-at-completion reporting. Analyze project costs, identify variances, and provide actionable recommendations. Reconcile project-level profit and loss statements and support operational decision-making. Prepare contract-required financial reports and other project performance analyses. Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting, construction accounting, or FP&A. Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and project financial analysis. Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes. Advanced Excel and analytical skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments. Experience with project accounting or construction-related ERP systems is a plus.
