Project Accountant $75000 - $95000 per year | Warrenton, VA | On-site | Permanent A bit about us: A growing specialty construction and installation company is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join its team. The company delivers complex, design-driven projects for commercial and institutional customers and manages the full project lifecycle—from initial design and execution through installation, commissioning, warranty, and long-term service. This is an opportunity for an accountant who wants to be more than a transactional resource. The ideal candidate understands project-based accounting and can connect the financials to what is actually happening in the field. You’ll work closely with Project Managers and leadership to understand job costs, project profitability, forecasts, and overall financial performance Why join us? Job Details What You’ll Do: Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and balance sheet schedules Prepare and analyze WIP schedules and job cost reports Analyze project profitability, margins, cost-to-complete, and over/under billings Partner directly with Project Managers on project forecasts and financial reporting Support project revenue recognition and billing Review job costs, change orders, commitments, and project-related financial activity Assist with AP, AR, customer billing, and collections Prepare financial reporting and analysis for management Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end activities Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting as the company continues to grow What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of accrual accounting and the full accounting cycle Experience with month-end close, GL accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements Construction, contracting, engineering, equipment installation, or other project-based accounting experience strongly preferred Hands-on experience with WIP and job cost accounting Strong Excel skills and analytical capabilities Comfortable partnering with Project Managers and operational leadership Detail-oriented, accountable, and willing to dig into the numbers and understand the “why” behind them Jobot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
