Peer Support Specialist MH / A&D

Meets criteria as a Peer Support Specialist according to OAR 410-180-0305 (12) and (13) (a) and provides recovery and support services to agency consumers under supervision of the Clinical Director and the Prime + OR the ACT Team Supervisor. The Peer Support Specialist support services to agency consumers. The Peer Support Specialist draws on their own personal experiences to motivate and assist clients to act on their own behalf and to support their own self-directed recovery. Duties and Responsibilities Work within a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan, to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their mental health and A & D issues, developing perspectives and skills that promote recovery. Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, one-on-one individualized support, coaching, problem solving and direct assistance, as needed. Assist clients in developing and using natural support, including but not limited to community self-help groups. Promote and model self-advocacy and independent living skills for clients, individually and in group settings. Share own experiences in appropriate ways, keeping boundaries and forming appropriate paraprofessional relationships with clients. Document client progress in agency’s Electronic Medical Record in a professional and timely manner. Manage administrative tasks and documentation pertaining to your clients. Meet regularly with clinical supervisor and/or ACT Supervisor to review job activities, expectations, client progress and concerns. Peers are required to maintain a sober lifestyle as part of being a certified Peer Support Specialist. Attend agency meetings, as required. Qualifications Required Education and Experience High School graduate Have, or have the ability to obtain within 2 months of hire, Peer Support Specialist certification from state approved program Be self-identified recipient of mental health services who embraces the philosophy of resilience and recovery Preferred Education And Experience Bilingual – Spanish Experience with electronic medical system Competencies Organization skills Good written and oral communication skills Ability to manage time effectively Computer skills and Microsoft Office Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary team and maintain role clarity Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Position Requirements Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
