Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Java Developer to join the AI Lab team at Brown Brothers Harriman, focusing on AI-driven and data-enabled solutions. This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer (3 9 years of experience) who wants to remain hands-on while having a real influence on technical direction, quality, and team growth. You will work within an Agile team of ~50 people, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Data Scientists, and Business Stakeholders to build scalable, end-to-end enterprise applications and autonomous AI agent workflows.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java-based applications in a complex, distributed environment.
• Build scalable end-to-end applications utilizing front-end frameworks (React, Angular) and back-end technologies (Java/Spring Boot, Python, Node.js).
• Contribute to AI-enabled solutions, working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI) for multi-step, tool-augmented workflows.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns, embedding models, vector databases, and semantic search techniques to ground AI outputs in enterprise content.
• Take ownership of features from requirements analysis through implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Participate in technical design and architecture discussions, influencing solutions and engineering best practices.
• Perform code reviews and promote clean code, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Act as a technical mentor for less experienced developers, sharing knowledge and setting development standards.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes in cloud environments (Azure / OpenShift).
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues in existing applications.
• Collaborate effectively in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

• 3 to 9 years of professional software development experience (Targeting mid-level candidates; candidates with 10+ years or previous managerial titles are overqualified for this role).
• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience with deep expertise in the Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Full-stack proficiency with Java, Python, SQL, React, and Angular.
• Hands-on experience working with LLMs and exposure to agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, etc.).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience with messaging systems/queues and asynchronous processing.
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and/or OpenShift.
• Solid understanding of design patterns and scalable architecture principles.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and structured problem-solving skills.
• Resume strict constraint: Must be 3 pages or less.

Preferred / Technical Scope:

• Familiarity with RAG patterns, vector databases, embedding models, and semantic search techniques.
• Experience with TypeScript, RxJS, HTML, CSS, and Node.js.
• Experience with CI/CD automation, build tools, and Unix/Linux environments
