Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Oakland, Maryland.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 21, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and EPIC EMR proficiency.Details\n \n Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting\n 32-bed unit currently operating at 20 beds due to staffing\n Nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5, staffed with RNs and LPNs\n Patient population includes CP, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, ortho, detox, post-op surgical, and pediatric patients\n Unit does not manage laboring mothers or titrating cardiac/insulin drips\n Uses ICU tele monitors with off-unit reading, documentation done by floor nurse\n 3 nurse aides per shift and a House Supervisor who makes assignments (no charge nurse)\n RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow, with RT support available at all hours\n 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM\n Every other weekend required, with Friday-Saturday-Sunday night rotation\n Holiday coverage rotates with regular staff\n Floating required to assist other units as needed\n No call or standby requirements\n EPIC EMR experience required\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (WV or Compact) required\n BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required\n ACLS and PALS recommended but not required\n Minimum 2 years of RN experience required\n Strong Med/Surg background required due to variety of patient acuities and diagnoses\n EPIC EMR experience required\n Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care across a broad range of medical-surgical diagnoses and post-surgical cases\n Collaborate with House Supervisor for daily patient assignments\n Unit/department orientation includes manager review, facility tour, introductions, and 3-5 days of on-unit training\n Additional Meditech, pharmacy, and lab training coordinated through education department\n Scrubs of any color accepted except camo or orange\n Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler\n Former WVU Medicine employees must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying\n Former permanent staff of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers\n Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year without taking a 2-year break\n All candidates interview directly with the unit manager\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756546.
