Nuclear Reactor Operator

Location: Fitzpatrick Nuclear Station, Oswego, NY Responsibilities Directs and coordinates the work of all lower‑grade Operators engaged in the operation of a Nuclear Power Plant, including the Nuclear Steam Supply System, Turbine Generator and all Auxiliary Equipment and associated 345 KV and 115 KV Switchyards during plant startup, shutdown, refueling, emergency and normal operating conditions. Ensures proper operation of all plant equipment in accordance with Technical Specifications, Operating Procedures, Special Procedures and other applicable procedures. May be present at any point within the plant or its Switchyards as conditions dictate to efficiently discharge duties. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Nuclear Control Operator when conditions or circumstances require. Maintains an active interest in plant operations and stays current with technological advances. Special Duties Directs the work and duties of lower‑grade Nuclear Operators, coordinates activities of personnel working in the plant facilities, and keeps current with technological advances. Qualifications Ability to qualify as a Radiation Protection Self‑Monitor. Holder of an NRC Reactor Operators License. Ability to direct the work of other employees. Ability to assist in the training of other employees. Minimum of two years of operating experience in a thermal power plant, including at least one year as an NCO or equivalent.
