Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking a Linux System Administrator to provide technical support in areas including RedHat Linux, VMware, backup and recovery, server configuration, and system hardening. The role includes mentoring other administrators and working with management to establish processes, security, and system support strategies. Responsibilities include configuring LDAP, creating and maintaining Linux scripts (Bash, PHP, Perl), and managing virtual systems and storage under VMware. The position requires after-hours and weekend work, with an on-call rotation. Regular office hours are in Eastern Time.  At this location, this position pays a salary base of $95k to $112k per year, depending on related experience, and is eligible for a bonus opportunity.

• Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
• Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
• Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
• Facilitate knowledge transfer of system support procedures and nuances
• Incorporate Information Security Best Practices in all aspects of Systems Management
• Installs and maintains operating systems and related software to ensure stable performance
• Lead role in a wide area of technical expertise
• Mentoring of other Technical Support staff
• Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels
• Recommendations in design and new system specification
• Responsibility for high complexity enterprise systems
• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Server Patch and security governance
• Troubleshoots networking and operating systems problems
• Work with the backup administrator to ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
• Works with and understands the roles of members of other departments
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience, required

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Experience with Ansible, Tower or comparable technologies, preferred
• Experience with LDAP, preferred
• Experience with Linux administration and scripting, preferred
• Experience with Networking setup and configuration, preferred
• Experience with shell, scripting and system-level programming, preferred
• Experience with storage (SAN) concepts or administration, preferred
• Experience with VMware administration and configuration, preferred
• Experience with VMware administration, preferred
• Experience with VMware and LINUX (RedHat) operating environments, as well as exposure to industry products, terminology and trends, preferred
• Experience with VMware Horizon, preferred
• Three years of related work experience, preferred
