Student Administrative Support Staff, GSSW Career & Student Engagement

Position Overview University of Denver – Graduate School of Social Work – GSSW Work Study Eligibility Requirement Federal work-study award required (eligible only through the Financial Aid Office). Essential Functions Respond to general student and faculty inquiries via email in a timely manner. Support the production of departmental newsletters and marketing materials (e.g., The Advocate newsletter, The NAVIGATOR newsletter, Monthly Stall Journals, flyers, and other correspondents that inform GSSW students about upcoming events and resources). Provide support with special projects & events as assigned. Monitor the use of the purchase card (P-Card) among GSSW student organizations. Communicate and consistently enforce departmental policies and procedures with all stakeholders and co‑workers. Serve as a peer resource to Master of Social Work graduate students for resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn questions on a drop‑in or virtual basis. Assist with database entry (e.g., event attendance, employer profiles, graduate outcome employment information, drop‑in appointments). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills with peers and students. Ability to work independently and be proactive. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive student information. Interact professionally and courteously with all stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, employers, and community members). Consistently enforce departmental policies and procedures with all stakeholders and co‑workers. Follow institutional processes and procedures and ensure compliance. Use of standard office equipment. Maintain an approachable, flexible, and positive demeanor. Proven customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent proofreading, verbal, and written communication skills. Be a mature, discreet, and independent worker who is well organized. Required Qualifications Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2026-2027 academic year, located in the Denver area. Have a federal work-study award. Cultural sensitivity in working with a diverse group of individuals. Experience with MS Office Suite, Office 365, including Word, Excel, MS Teams, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a work study role. Prior experience working with or curiosity for student organizations, student engagement, or career services. Interest in the social/human services (social work, psychology, sociology, etc.) or related degree. Familiarity with social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), database platforms (Crimson Connect, Crimson Constellation, PCO), Canva, and websites (e.g., GSSW Portfolio sites). Experience in a standard office environment with a shared office space. Work performed with a hybrid of in‑person and online/virtual modalities. Use of personal laptop/computer required for online/virtual work. Physical Activities Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus. Capability to transport objects up to 20 lbs. Compensation and Benefits The position rate is $19.50/hour (Student Support I – Entry). This position is eligible for a federal work‑study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office only. In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non‑benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
