Senior Wellness and Advocacy Center Nutrition ProgramThis position involves providing daily meals for senior citizens and patrons at the Robert "Bob" Harrison Senior Wellness and Advocacy Center following the guidelines set by TARCOG (Area Agency on Aging). This position also requires the employee to administer and lead all aspects of the free daily lunch program including but not limited to receiving inventory, tracking inventory, preparing meals, serving meals, preparing all reports associated with the program, and maintaining accurate records and all other actions necessary to maintain program compliance under the supervision of the Food Manager. Helps to maintain established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation/storage as set by the local health department. Maintain Health Department records and food service records/files.Essential Duties and Responsibilities(All duties listed may not be included in any one position, nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)Performs all responsibilities as needed with the nutrition programEnsures all meals connected to the free daily lunch program are prepared and served in compliance with program regulationsPrepares complete meals to include observing meals, seasonings meals and placing meals in food warmer devicesCan accurately read and record food temperatures for daily mealsSecures necessary items used in preparation of food for cookingAssists in serving food as requiredCleans kitchen and kitchen equipment after meals have been prepared and served; stores and handles food properly; ensures floors are uncluttered, clean and safe; ensures facility meets all health code requirements; assists and maintains food inventoryPrioritizes kitchen responsibilities over assisting staff and patrons in other areas of the Bob Harrison Center; treat staff, patrons, volunteers and work release laborers with respectCounts and records daily donationsPrepares and deposits donations to the bank on a weekly basis; submits item delivery tickets from food vendor weeklyPrepares end of month lunch reports (logs)Presents monthly nutrition education to clientsAttends quarterly Center Manager meetings and training sessions for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to maintain complianceCompletes participant enrollment forms and generates number given by the State of Alabama enrollment program to the monthly lunch report (log)Communicates with Madison County Nutrition Coordinator on a weekly basisIs knowledgeable about the State of Alabama's Elderly Nutrition ProgramDrives county vehicle to pick up supplies or deliver meals, packages, etcPerforms all other related work as necessaryEducation and ExperienceEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredMust have valid driver's licenseMust be able to pass drug screeningExperience working with the public and seniors preferredExperience working with senior programs preferredKnowledge, Skill, and AbilityAbility to maintain high standard of personal cleanliness and food sanitationWorking knowledge of use and adaptabilities of various pieces of cooking equipment used in commercial or institutional kitchensWorking knowledge of proper and required food temperature and ability to accurately read and record temperaturesKnowledge of the guidelines set by the State of Alabama, the AAA in Madison CountyKnowledge of basic computer and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Word & Excel)Ability to communicate effectively with senior citizensOther RequirementsPhysical Requirements/CertificationsAbility to stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to lift objects up to 20lbsMust possess or have ability to secure, Serve Safe CertificationScheduleMonday - Friday8:00 AM - 1:30 PMTo be considered for this position, all applicants must complete the employment application in full.
