School Aide

SPED Support Aide & Health/Personal Care Aide

We are seeking compassionate, dependable professionals to support young adults with disabilities in a dedicated Adult Transition Program serving students ages 18-22. These rewarding positions focus on helping participants develop independence, life skills, vocational readiness, community integration, and daily living skills as they transition into adulthood.

Whether supporting instructional activities as a SPED Support Aide or assisting with personal care and health-related needs as a Health & Personal Care Aide , you will play a vital role in helping students achieve meaningful goals and greater independence.

Position Overview

As a member of the Adult Transition Program team, you will work alongside special education teachers, job coaches, therapists, and support staff to provide individualized assistance in classroom, community, and vocational settings.

SPED Support Aide Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support during instructional, vocational, and community-based activities

• Assist students with life skills, employment readiness, communication, and social development

• Support implementation of behavior support plans and positive reinforcement strategies

• Promote student independence and self-advocacy skills

• Assist with community outings, job training experiences, and transition-related activities

• Collaborate with teachers and program staff to support student goals

Health & Personal Care Aide Responsibilities

• Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and feeding as needed

• Support students with mobility and transfers following established safety procedures

• Monitor student well-being and communicate concerns to appropriate staff

• Assist with health-related tasks as directed by district policies and assigned personnel

• Maintain student dignity, privacy, and safety at all times

• Provide supportive care that encourages independence whenever possible

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities and diverse support needs

• CPR certification preferred or required by assignment

• TB clearance (PPD, questionnaire, or chest x-ray, as applicable)

• Current health screening and documentation as required

• Ability to comply with all federal, state, local, and district requirements

• Previous experience in special education, caregiving, behavioral support, healthcare, or human services is preferred but not required
