CFO Advisory, Accounting Advisory Manager (Not-for-Profit)As a result of continued growth within our Accounting Advisory practice, we are currently seeking a Manager specializing in Not-for-Profit (NFP) organizations for our national team. This role offers the flexibility to be remote, with travel as needed for specific projects.In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple client relationships while leading a team of professionals delivering advisory services tailored to not-for-profit entities. This includes consulting on technical accounting, financial reporting requirements under U.S. GAAP, including ASC 958, donor restrictions/restricted net assets, and grants/contributions, in addition to finance function buildout, process improvement, and enhancement of finance operations. You will also support complex accounting initiatives and operational improvements while demonstrating a passion for client service and advancing the mission-driven goals of our clients' finance organizations.Our industry-focused teams (including Financial Services; Industrial & Consumer Goods; Private Equity; Professional Services; Real Estate, Construction & Hospitality; Technology & Life Sciences; and Not-for-Profit) provide tailored, practical solutions grounded in experience, enabling clients to address current challenges while preparing for long-term sustainability and impact.As a Manager, you will:Manage client relationships and oversee engagement managementAssist clients with financial close processes, including improving month-end and year-end close cycles for not-for-profit entitiesSupport accounting transitions and special projects, such as cash-to-accrual accounting, opening balance sheet preparation, consolidation accounting, and other transaction or reporting needsAssist clients with preparing for financial statement audits, Single Audits, and compliance auditsLead technical accounting projects related to ASC 958 (Not-for-Profit Entities), revenue recognition (ASC 606 with contributions vs. exchange transactions), leases (ASC 842), and other relevant standardsProvide guidance on net asset classification (with and without donor restrictions), grant accounting, and contribution revenue recognitionSupport the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, reconciliations, and accounting memos tailored to not-for-profit reporting requirementsProvide recommendations related to finance policies, procedures, and operating model supportSupport clients with internal financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash managementProvide guidance to clients on finance systems, reporting tools, and related process improvements, including implementation support, system optimization, and data/reporting needsAssist clients with information and reporting needs related to Form 990 and other state or federal reporting requirements, as neededSupport clients by identifying opportunities to improve internal controls, governance, and financial processesWhat you bring to the role:Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA licenseFive or more years of experience within a public accounting firm and/or industry environment performing audit, controllership, or consulting services, with experience serving not-for-profit organizations, foundations, higher education, healthcare, or NGOs preferredProven experience and interest in technical accounting matters, particularly within the not-for-profit sectorExposure to month-end close, audit processes, and financial reporting in a not-for-profit or similar environmentStrong organizational skills, including experience planning and leading projects from start to finishAbility to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while working independently and collaborativelyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders such as boards of directors, finance committees, and executive leadershipStrong analytical and diagnostic skills, with attention to detail and accuracyWillingness to travel as needed (up to 40%)Additional preferred qualifications:Experience working within not-for-profit accounting departments or advisory environmentsFamiliarity with systems commonly used in the NFP sector, such as Blackbaud, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Workday, or QuickBooksExperience with grant tracking, donor management systems, or restricted fund reportingExperience supporting single audits (Uniform Guidance) and compliance reportingFamiliarity with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and management reportingExposure to financial process improvement tools and data analytics platforms, such as Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar toolsWhat you can expect from us:Our shared values that foster inclusion and belonging including uncompromising integrity, collaboration, trust, and mutual respectThe opportunity to innovate and do work that motivates and engages youA collaborative environment focused on enabling you to further your career growth and continuous professional developmentCompetitive compensation and a total rewards package that focuses on all aspects of your wellbeingFlexibility to do impactful work and the time to enjoy your life outside of workOpportunities to connect and learn from professionals from different backgrounds and with different culturesBenefits Information:Cherry Bekaert cares about our people.
