Job Summary TITLE: Assistant Principal - Middle School STATUS: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS:
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
- A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
- A master's degree or a master's degree in progress with certification in the area of school administration.
- Three years successful experience as a classroom teacher at the appropriate level.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
- Serves as the authority in charge in absence of the principal.
- Assists the principal in the areas of classroom observation and staff development.
- Shares leadership in the development of curriculum, local in-service training and the improvement of instruction.
- Serves as Civil Defense coordinator and formulates emergency plans for the school in all needed areas as assigned by the principal.
- Assumes the general responsibility for attendance procedure and identified tasks in the area of pupil personnel services.
- Coordinates and assists staff efforts in maintaining student discipline and deals with special problems as necessary.
- Works in cooperation with the guidance department for the social adjustment and welfare of students.
- Coordinates the accounting of equipment, lockers, and textbooks.
- Assists in the coordination of extracurricular activities.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
