Job DescriptionHarborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Carpenter .WORK SCHEDULES100% FTE (40 hours per week), Day ShiftMonday – FridayDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONOur Carpentry staff contribute to UW Medicine Patients Are First healthcare team by providing journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance and repair of facilities within the hospital.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSUnder general supervision, the individual in this role will perform journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance and repair of facilities within the hospital.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESInstall metal stud framing, install drywall, install wall protection including FRP, Acrovyn, and plywood, install doors, door frames and windows, install door hardwareRepair walls, ceilings, screens, sashes, doors, furniture, fixtures, stairs, cupboards, windows and roofsBuild, repair and install cabinets, patient furniture, staff furniture and caseworkInstall wall hung fixtures such as; blood pressure gauges, chair exit alarms, cup-towel-toilet paper dispensers, shelving, bulletin boards, sharps containers, soap dispenser, hand gel dispensers, glove box holders and medicine cabinetsAdjust, repair or replace locks, weather stripping, screens, mirrors, brackets, window blinds, curtain tracks, handrails, hinges, closures, panic hardwareOperate power equipment such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planers, boring and mortising machines; clean, sharpen, maintain and repair such equipmentMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter; or full journey status as a carpenter in a union; or four years’ applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
