Certified Hospital Outpatient Coder

To support outpatient hospital operations, the full-time Certified Hospital Outpatient Coder will assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes, review HCPCS charges, and monitor work queues while working remotely. Key responsibilities Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and coding guidelines Review HCPCS charges for appropriateness of modifiers and enter accurate charge information as needed Generate coding queries for clarification regarding physician documentation and stay updated on coding conventions Required qualifications High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification No prior coding experience required
