Laboratory Technician

Job Overview: Pay Range: $20hr - $24hr

Responsibilities:

• Assist in specimen testing under direct supervision following established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Operate automated and digital laboratory devices such as timers and thermometers.
• Record and track reagent, kit, control, and standard usage, ensuring materials are within expiration dates.
• Perform pipetting using calibrated automatic devices and fixed volume dispensers.
• Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) on laboratory equipment, document activities, and escalate complex issues.
• Develop knowledge of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of test results.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations (CLIA, CAP, and other applicable standards).
• Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance logs, equipment checks, troubleshooting, and quality control records.
• Follow departmental instructions and complete additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Understanding of basic laboratory practices and procedures.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions under direct supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety protocols.

Education And Experience:

• Bachelors degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry, including at least one course in organic chemistry preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with clinical laboratory environments and regulatory standards.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and preventative maintenance procedures.
