Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Elk Grove, CA (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $33-$38 per hour

Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity based fully onsite in Elk Grove, CA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with at least one year of hands-on experience who is looking to grow within a dynamic organization. The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end account reconciliations
• Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain general ledger and ensure integrity of financial data
• Analyze financial statements and variances
• Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes as needed
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial operations

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• Minimum 1+ year of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role
• Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs preferred)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Prior experience in a mid-sized or fast-growing organization
• Progress toward CPA certification is a plus but not required
