Medical Support Assistant — VA Eastern Colorado

Location: On-site at Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinics across Eastern Colorado (Aurora and Denver area, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and additional Eastern Colorado sites). Multiple positions.

Employment Type: Full-time with benefits (W-2)

Compensation: $23.00 per hour (Service Contract Act wage determination base for the area), plus the SCA Health and Welfare benefit.

Schedule: Full-time, standard VA clinic business hours, on-site at the assigned Eastern Colorado clinic.

Position Overview

CLFC seeks experienced Medical Support Assistants to provide patient scheduling and front-desk support at Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinics across Eastern Colorado. These are on-site roles serving Veterans at their local VA clinic.

The successful candidate is a dependable healthcare administrative professional who manages appointment scheduling accurately, greets and supports patients at check-in, and keeps clinic schedules running smoothly in a federal healthcare environment.

Multiple positions are available across the Eastern Colorado clinic network, including the Aurora and Denver area, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and additional sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients at the clinic front desk and verify demographic and eligibility information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments accurately in VA scheduling systems in accordance with VHA scheduling policy.
• Manage clinic schedules, recall lists, consults, and the electronic wait list; coordinate follow-up appointments.
• Answer patient inquiries by phone and in person, and route clinical questions to the appropriate care team.
• Support Group Practice Manager and clinic reporting, including scheduling accuracy and audit readiness.
• Maintain patient privacy and complete all required VA privacy, HIPAA, cybersecurity, and records-management training.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of medical office, patient scheduling, patient access, or healthcare customer-service experience.
• Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and professional customer-service communication.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation and fingerprint check for VA access.
• Authorized to work in the United States and able to work on-site at the assigned Eastern Colorado VA clinic.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Department of Veterans Affairs experience, or experience with VA scheduling systems (VistA, VSGA, or VAOS) and CPRS.
• Familiarity with VHA scheduling policy and the electronic wait list.
• Prior healthcare front-desk, patient access, or medical scheduling experience.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or similar patient-access credential.
