Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC) is a tribal health organization that represents 28 tribes throughout the region, which is approximately 35,000 square miles. BBAHC is comprised of four subregions, each distinct in history, culture, natural resources, and community priorities. The regions include: Nushagak River & Bay Central, Southern, Western, and Kvichak Bay & North Side Peninsula. BBAHC manages the Bristol Bay Service Unit for the Indian Health Service and has done so since 1980. The main campus of the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation is in Dillingham, which is located at the confluence of the Nushagak and Wood River systems and is a regional hub of the Bristol Bay salmon fishing district. BBAHC operates the Kanakanak Hospital along with 21 Village Clinics, all of which are HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Clinics. Clinical services include: Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Laboratory, Dental, Optometry, Audiology, and Physical Therapy. The Kanakanak Campus also includes a residential treatment facility and a behavioral health counseling center. BBAHC is Joint Commission Accredited and upholds high standards for quality patient care. About The Role The CHAP Instructor/Provider plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive training and certification programs related to the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP). This position is responsible for educating healthcare professionals and organizations on compliance standards, quality improvement, and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care. The instructor/provider will develop and implement training curricula, conduct workshops, and provide ongoing support to participants to facilitate their understanding and application of CHAP standards. Success in this role results in improved healthcare service delivery and enhanced organizational readiness for accreditation. The role requires a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt training methods to diverse audiences across the United States. This position will have administrative and clinical supervision by CHAP Manager or designee and an assigned Physician. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing, public health, or a related field. Experience in healthcare quality assurance, accreditation, or regulatory compliance. Strong knowledge of CHAP standards and accreditation processes. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to travel within the United States as required. ACLS, BLS and PALS certification required. Two years’ experience as a Mid-Level Practitioner (MLP). Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in healthcare administration, education, or a related discipline. Certification in healthcare quality or accreditation (e.g., CPHQ). Certified Physician's Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Alaska. Experience as a healthcare educator or trainer. Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design. Proficiency with virtual training platforms and e-learning tools. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deliver CHAP training programs and workshops to healthcare providers and organizations. Evaluate participant progress and provide feedback to ensure comprehension and application of CHAP standards. Stay current with CHAP accreditation requirements and healthcare regulations to update training materials accordingly. Collaborate with healthcare organizations to assess training needs and customize educational content. Provide ongoing support and consultation to trainees to address questions and challenges related to accreditation processes. Supervising Community Health Aides and Community Health Practitioner. Skills The CHAP Instructor/Provider utilizes strong communication and presentation skills daily to effectively convey complex accreditation standards to diverse healthcare audiences. Analytical skills are essential for assessing organizational needs and tailoring training programs accordingly. Instructional design and educational skills enable the creation of engaging and impactful learning experiences that facilitate knowledge retention. Interpersonal skills support building trust and rapport with trainees, fostering an environment conducive to learning and improvement.
