Obstetrics RN, Labor and Delivery NurseThe RN is responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of their practice. This position involves delivering care to women in labor, through delivery, and postpartum. The RN also provides care to newborns, ensuring all aspects of maternal childcare. Responsibilities include performing assessments and monitoring the labor process. The RN prepares for C-sections and inductions and properly documents nursing care. Care is administered during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum, including infant care and patient education. The RN prepares the delivery room, provides emotional support, and coordinates transfers. Administration of IV medications is required, adhering to infection control principles. Knowledge and/or interest in obstetrics and related equipment is essential. The RN reports directly to the Birth Center Manager. Physical demands involve long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting.
