POSITION SUMMARY:

The BAAB Site Director is responsible for all aspects of daily operation of a Berwick Area YMCA Before and After School program site. The position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and facilitation of program activities ensuring a safe, enriching, and high-quality program environment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensures the safety and engagement of all children iat the program site.

2. Plans and implements daily, age-appropriate activities for elementary age children.

3. Provide assistance with homework and encourage academic progress. 

1. Provides careful, attentive supervision, alert at all times.
2. Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior and understands the positive youth development approaches to the needs and development of youth.
3. Facilitates a program environment that promotes positive play and welcomes children.
4. Maintains the programs site, equipment and supplies.                                               
5. Facilitates and maintains positive, on-going relationships with all stakeholders including children, parents, the school district and the program director.
6. Maintain accurate records as assigned and according to program requirements.
7. Communicates regularly with parents; attends parent/family events as designated by the program director.
8. Demonstrates a working knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose and goals, childcare policies and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence.
9. Supervises and coordinates the schedule and activities of Assistant Group Supervisors and Aides.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.

1. At least 18 years of age.

1. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of 

hire date. Other trainings as established by state law within the prescribed timelines.

1. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred and may be required in accordance with state law depending upon level of education attained.

1. Ability to plan, organize and implement age- appropriate/developmentally appropriate 

program activities.

1. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with children, parents and the school district.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to plan, lead and participate in physical activities with children.
