Billing Specialist

Base Pay $24.90 - $26.21 / Hour Job Category Administration Employee Type FT Non-Exempt Required Degree High school Hours 36 hours per week; Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm As a Billing Specialist, you will Prepare, review, and submit accurate billing using electronic and paper processing within contracted timelines for multiple health plans. Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe. Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract. Research and appeal denied claims. Follow up with insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary. Ensure that information about members served, enrollment, disenrollment, eligibility information, outcome data, billing, and other pertinent information is entered accurately into EHR(s) and other documentation platforms within specified time limits. Our Central office is in the Mission Bay area. We provide management support services for all of the mental health programs of Community Research Foundation and PERT, Inc. Our Central Office consists of Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Information Technology, Housing, Real Estate and Facilities, Quality Improvement. Education High School/GED diploma with 1+ year of experience with data review, medical billing, health care administration and/or referrals required. Additional Qualifications and Skills Experience using Electronic Health Record systems required Professional verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in billing processes Able to demonstrate intermediate level computer skills, specifically with MS Office and Excel. Able to learn new software and applications Able to pass criminal/background clearance Summary This position performs a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to billing, data entry, reporting and tracking information for program management. Ensures timely and accurate data entry, performs data validation and quality control checks, creates and generates reports, and performs analysis and reconciliation of data.
