Medical Director

Overview Hunter Health is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that offers comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral, vision, laboratory, imaging, and pharmacy services to the Wichita community. The Medical Director position goes beyond clinical practice; it is an opportunity to shape primary care by combining direct patient care with clinical leadership and by partnering with executive leadership to advance quality, innovation, provider growth, and access to care. Essential Functions Provide direct patient care as a Primary Care Physician for a minimum of 16 hours per week. Collaborate with the executive team to establish a strategic vision for delivering high‑quality, integrated, cost‑efficient care and set departmental priorities aligned with organizational goals. Supervise physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and advanced practice clinicians—including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions. Offer mentorship, coaching, and professional development to support provider growth, retention, and excellence. Create an environment of high employee engagement to support Hunter Health’s commitment to a positive workplace culture. Lead the development of new medical and vision clinical services, establishing related policies and procedures. Develop and implement programs to maximize service effectiveness, monitoring activities such as budget planning, grant and program management, and partnerships with local agencies. Assume administrative leadership duties, including clinical operations oversight, quality improvement, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and performance management. Set and execute goals and objectives for departmental projects, monitoring progress and maintaining compliance with quality and productivity standards. Manage the department’s financial performance, including budget development and maintenance. Oversee the clinical supervision system to ensure effective supervision of extended‑practice clinicians.
