Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Eligible Position .

Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increments.
Paid Leave: 50-55 days of paid leave annually, which includes 26 days of vacation, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potentially 5 days of paid leave for Continuing Medical Education (CME).
Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension (5-year vesting period) and a federal 401K plan with contributions of up to 5% from the organization.
Insurance Coverage: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal insurance options can be continued into retirement).
Licensure Requirement: Must possess one full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
CME Reimbursement: Up to $1,000 per year for reimbursement (must be full-time and board-certified).
Malpractice Coverage: Liability protection provided at no cost, including tail coverage.
Contractual Agreement: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

The Cardiologist Physician is a specialized healthcare provider dedicated to delivering comprehensive care within their field.

This role involves full-time responsibilities at the Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) - Leavenworth campus. Key duties include, but are not limited to:

- Delivering competent care to a diverse population of Veterans, considering cultural, socio-economic, military service, and age-specific factors.
- Collecting pertinent health and medical histories.
- Conducting physical examinations based on age and medical history.
- Performing or ordering preventive and diagnostic procedures tailored to the patient's age and history.
- Identifying health and medical risk factors.
- Utilizing critical thinking in the diagnostic process.
- Synthesizing and analyzing gathered data.
- Developing differential diagnoses based on history, physical exams, and diagnostic test results.
- Prioritizing to address the health needs of Veterans.
- Creating individualized treatment plans.
- Ordering additional diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Selecting suitable pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Developing patient education strategies.
- Initiating consultations or referrals when appropriate.
- Establishing intervention priorities.
- Providing personalized care to meet the identified needs of Veterans.
- Implementing interventions aligned with the treatment plan.
- Initiating actions based on scientific principles, current knowledge, and clinical expertise.
- Accurately ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, and communicating results to patients.
- Prescribing specific pharmacologic agents and/or non-pharmacologic therapies as needed.
- Demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of advanced pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Adhering to standardized procedures as required.
- Implementing current clinical guidelines and pathways.
- Offering relevant patient education.
- Referring patients to other healthcare professionals and community resources as necessary.
- Participating in peer reviews as assigned.
- Utilizing appropriate healthcare resources.
- Obtaining informed consent when applicable.
- Maintaining a systematic follow-up process.
- Promptly evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans.
- Accurately documenting the effects of interventions and care outcomes in patient records.
- Reassessing and adjusting plans as needed to meet healthcare goals.
- Serving on committees, teams, workgroups, and participating in chart reviews as requested by administration.
- Completing all required training mandated by the organization.
- The Cardiologist Physician will oversee various responsibilities related to developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive healthcare plan for patients within their specialty.
- Providing ongoing inpatient or outpatient care for patients in the assigned clinical setting.
- In inpatient settings, making rounds to observe and document each patient's medical progress, updating medical records, modifying orders as necessary, and informing the responsible physician of significant changes in patient conditions.
- In outpatient settings, evaluating patients and managing acute and chronic illnesses, focusing on maintaining stable conditions, preventive healthcare, and screenings. Consulting with other physicians regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for outpatients as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
