Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Overtime Status: Non- Exempt


Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Equipment Mechanic to join our team.

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 8 hours are worked each day. Hours of work will vary. After a probationary period of sixty (60) days, the employee will be required to join Local #472. Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided through Local #472 after union waiting period is satisfied.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for the Mechanic position include, but are not limited to:

• Be able to perform preventative maintenance on Company equipment (Trucks, Tri-Axle trucks, forklifts, and Caterpillar and Komatsu heavy equipment)
• Possess their own tools
• Have knowledge of modern technology (electronics) used in vehicles and heavy equipment
• Proven knowledge in hydraulic systems
• Clean driving record

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Must be safety minded

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position requiring travel to all Braen Stone locations
• Period exposure to high levels of noise, dust and grease
• Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 6am to 4pm; Saturday work will also be required dependent on the demand of the business. Overtime is paid after eight (8) hours are worked daily

Physical Demands:

• Perform all job-related functions with clear understanding of relative physical demands
• Use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Standing for long periods of time, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, crouch/crawl
• Ability to distinguish and recognize the difference of sounds
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects
• Be physically active for long periods with ability to balance or stay upright in an unstable position

Pay: $27.65 - $30.65/hour
