DescriptionThe Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Health System, seeks an experienced individual to serve as System Administrator of the Division of General Internal Medicine. The Division Administrator reports jointly to the Division Chief and the Department of Medicine System Vice Chair for Administration and is responsible for the direction and management of the business and operational activities of the Division. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation, and administration of current and long range policies, procedures and programs of the Division. In addition, the Administrator will play an integral role with the System Chief in developing strategies and tactics to further the mission of the Division. A primary function of the Administrator is to oversee the finances of the Division including collaborating with the System Department Administrator and the center led finance team in formulating and monitoring the annual budget, approving expenditures, working with the center led professional revenue cycle team to ensure physician generated revenue is meeting expectations, creating with the center led finance team clinical and research related business plans, overseeing outside contracts, monitoring grant expenditures, and other financial management related functions.ResponsibilitiesExamples of some specific responsibilities are: Oversight of the daily operations of the Division, including creating and implementing tracking and reporting systems, managing administrative staff and work assignments, and identifying and resolving a variety of operational issues. Working with the Chief and other senior leaders, the Administrator will establish goals and objectives for the Division that are consistent with Mount Sinai Health System and School of Medicines policies and federal, state and local regulations. This may include defining the scope of specific System Divisional projects, and analyzing requirements to execute those projects successfully. Incumbent will define and document Division specific procedures, identify process and workflow changes for continuous improvement and implement best practices for greater efficiency; will provide process improvement assistance when needed, and evaluate and develop logical work flows where applicable. The Administrator collaborates actively with senior leadership at all levels of the organization including System, Hospitals, School of Medicine, and Department to develop short term and long range plans. Also serves as primary point-of-contact for interdepartmental communications, where applicable, in order to maintain standards, implement improvements, define and measure progress and meet business objectives. The Administrator has three direct reports who help manage financial, operational, and educational programs of the Division. The incumbent will interpret and administer policies regarding hiring, payroll, appointments and promotions, placement and orientation of all faculty and/or staff. They will review and recommend potential staff reclassifications, new positions and salary increases. Aside from providing feedback to and annual evaluations of direct reports, the Administrator works with the System Chief of the Division of ensure that annual faculty evaluations are done in a timely manner. The Administrator, therefore, assures Divisional compliance with regulatory, insurance and ethical standards regarding safety of patients, employees and property; and identifies contingency plans for potential risks. The mission of the Division of General Internal Medicine is excellence in the delivery of patient care, research, and education in General Internal Medicine. There are currently over 150 faculty included full and part time employed faculty as well as voluntary faculty, many of whom are nationally and internationally renowned for their research and clinical expertise and 80 staff. Research funding for members of the Division of General Internal Medicine is supported by the National Institutes of Health, prestigious foundations, and industry. The Division has more than 60 active sponsored project accounts including grants, gifts, and clinical trials. The salary range for the role is $115494 - $173241 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
