Posting Details Date of Posting: July 1, 2026 Units: 5 Location: Marple Newtown High School Number of Positions: 1 Job Description Position: Indoor Color Guard This club is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships. Effective: 2026-2027 School Year Qualifications Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events. Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work with students of all ability levels. Education: Valid PA teaching certificate. Essential Functions A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members. Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion. Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships. Advisors will supervise all club‑related events and meetings. Assist in instructing students in flag technique, including foundational skills, equipment handling, body control, and precision, to support individual growth and overall ensemble performance. Support rehearsals outside the school day by teaching and reinforcing flag choreography, providing targeted feedback, and ensuring consistency and accuracy in performance execution. Collaborate with the Color Guard Director and instructional staff to align flag work with the overall show design, including synchronization with music, staging, and other equipment sections. Assist with performance and competition preparation, including equipment management, supervision of students, and reinforcement of expectations for discipline, teamwork, and safety. Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies. Other duties as assigned by Administration. Other Details Frequency of meetings: September – June; meet 1/week for an hour; 8-10 events per year Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students Clearances: In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and all related clearances.
