Family Practice/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Job Description

A well-established employee health and primary care clinic in Glen Allen, Virginia is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for a locum tenens assignment beginning in September. This is an excellent opportunity for providers who enjoy practicing in a low-volume outpatient setting focused on preventive care, wellness, and primary care services for employees and their families.

Position Highlights

• Employee health and wellness clinic serving employees and dependents (ages 2+)
• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Approximately 41 hours per week
• 3-month assignment covering a leave of absence
• Average patient volume of 10-12 patients per day
• Athena EMR
• Support staff typically includes an MA and/or RN
• Potential assignment extension depending on client needs

Clinical Responsibilities

• Primary care evaluation and treatment of acute illnesses
• Management of chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, and other common medical concerns
• Preventive care and wellness visits
• Biometric screenings and health coaching
• Well-woman exams
• Minor behavioral health management
• Care for both pediatric and adult patients
• Patient education and follow-up care

Requirements

• Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC)
• Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license
• Minimum of 2 years of NP experience
• Recent primary care experience within the last 2 years
• Current BLS certification
• Comfortable performing well-woman exams
• DEA preferred but not required
• DOT certification preferred but not required
• Athena EMR experience preferred
