Position Summary

Swinerton Builders is seeking an experienced Drywall Estimator to support our self-perform drywall operations. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial drywall and metal framing projects. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of drywall construction, estimating processes, construction documents, and project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for metal framing, drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and related scopes as applicable.
• Prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and production-based cost estimates.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, discrepancies, and potential project risks.
• Solicit and evaluate material supplier and subcontractor pricing when applicable.
• Coordinate with operations, project management, and other estimating team members throughout the bid process.
• Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, and supporting estimate documentation.
• Participate in bid reviews, estimate handoffs, and project turnover meetings.
• Maintain organized estimating files and support continuous improvement of estimating processes.
• Meet bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating commercial drywall and metal framing projects.
• Strong understanding of drywall systems, construction methods, materials, and labor productivity.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Experience performing digital quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, QuickBid, or comparable platforms.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial, large-scale, or complex construction projects.
• Experience supporting self-perform drywall or specialty subcontracting operations.
• Familiarity with labor production rates, crew costs, material pricing, and project scheduling.
• Experience collaborating with field operations and project management teams.

Work Environment

This position works closely with estimating, operations, project management, and field leadership to develop complete and competitive bids for commercial construction projects.
