Pay Rate: $1,700.00 - $1,850.00 gross per week

Travel: Please note: Contractors should expect shared housing and should not anticipate a private/single-unit housing arrangement. On-compound housing will most likely be provided in a shared housing unit.

• A 2-bedroom apartment-style unit with separate, locking bedrooms and a shared kitchen/common area; or
• A shared bunkhouse with 7 individual rooms, multiple bathrooms, a shared kitchen, and common area.

If on-compound housing is full, off-compound housing will be provided , along with a rental car for transportation to and from work .

Housing includes:

• Bedding and bath towels
• Washer and dryer in each unit
• Full kitchen
• Shared common area

Contractors are responsible for their own food and personal items. Meals are available at the Hospital Cafeteria from 6:00 AM–7:00 PM , including grill options and full meals prepared daily.

A vehicle is also available for staff to use for trips into town , such as grocery shopping or picking up mail, for up to 2 hours at a time .

Schedule for Clinic: M-F 8am- 5pm clinic hours and working in the village from 9am-6pm 

• Typically 1-2 hours of OT

Village Travel:

• Willing to travel in a small aircraft
• Monday hours start at 8am. They'd come to the clinic for huddle and teams typically leave for village at 10am (it varies) Village hours end about 7ish
• We carry about 8-1000 lbs of gear per trip.
• We provide general dentistry. Preventive, Restorative, Extractions. the providers will access teeth but RCT are finished in Dillingham.
• The travel teams consists of a dentist and two dental assistants. Sometimes a Hygienist will get added to the trip
• T-F village hours are 9am - 6 pm. and typically there is 1-2 hours per night of OT 
• Staff are responsible to bring their own food on Village travel so they will need a 18 gallon tote and a Dry bag works good for clothes (scrubs and personal items) it just needs to be waterproof.

EMR: Dentrix EDR and Mipac for Radiology

Additional Details:

• Seat patients in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and reviews their dental records.
• Sterilize, disinfect instruments and dental equipment.
• Provides post-operative instructions and provides oral health care education.
• Prepare materials for dental procedures per manufacturer's instruction.

Laboratory/Specialty Equipment Used: Papoose Board on small children

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a self-starter. Able to work without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of dental instruments and medical/dental terminology.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills
• Must be able to complete Indian Health Service (his) x-ray competency evaluation.
• Must be able to provide age- specific care to patients of all age levels
• Must pay attention to detail and assume responsibility for tasks assigned.
• Knowledge of Infection Control

CERTIFICATIONS: Dental Assistant National Board Certificate (CDA) preferred but not required

STATE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

• Must have completed an Accredited Dental Assisting course or 1 year of dental chairside experience.

ABOUT THE FACILITY

This facility includes 21 village clinics that are accredited by Joint Commission and are staffed by Community Health aides. Our Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) plays a very important role in village health services. Our health aides can provide Preventative, Acute, Chronic, and Emergency care within their scope of practice using the Community Health Aide Manual (CHAM) and reporting to a referral Physician at the Kanakanak hospital. They work closely with our case management and assist many other departments that include, but not limited to: Optometry, Audiology, Diabetes, Medical Staff, Dental, and Infant learning to ensure our patients are getting the appropriate and essential care that they need.
