Senior SEO & Local Search Strategist

Our client is a marketing agency that helps home service businesses grow: plumbers, HVAC companies, roofers, contractors, and landscapers. We’re hiring a senior strategist to own search and local visibility across our clients, from the technical health of their websites to how they show up in the map pack, Local Services Ads, and AI search. You’ll decide what each client needs, make sure it gets done, and explain the results in plain English. What you’ll do Audit client websites in Ahrefs (or other tools), then fix on-page and technical issues: content, metadata, internal links, schema, crawl and indexing problems, and page speed. Work with our web team on Astro sites to ship the fixes. Optimize and grow Google Business Profiles for service-area businesses, including categories, services, photos, review strategy. Build and clean up citations, keeping business info consistent everywhere. This includes our call-tracking-number approach. Using BrightLocal, WhiteSpark, Yext Manage Google Local Services Ads: profile health, lead review - managing our automated system for LSA Spot-check recorded calls to confirm leads are real, and flag issues before the client does. Set up and maintain tracking for each client: GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Search Console. Earn quality local backlinks, and recommend third-party lead sources like Yelp, Angi, Thumbtack, or Nextdoor when they fit a client. You'll have access to where we get backlinks, but you will manage the links and digital PR campaigns. Apply AEO and GEO practices so our clients get cited and recommended by AI search tools. Push press releases using our agency account. Own each client’s marketing plan, and lead the SEO and local portion of client strategy meetings with our Project Manager. Keep tasks, timelines, and documentation current in our own dashboard. What you bring Professional English. 5+ years of hands-on SEO, including 3+ years of local SEO for US service businesses Proven results growing Google Business Profiles and map-pack rankings Experience building citations and resolving inconsistent business info Experience managing Google Local Services Ads campaigns Advanced Ahrefs (or similar tools) skills, plus working knowledge of GA4, GTM, and Search Console Strong technical SEO: site architecture, crawlability, indexation, schema, and Core Web Vitals Hands‑on AEO/GEO experience Fluent spoken and written English, and comfort leading calls with business owners The organization to manage many accounts at once and the independence to own outcomes A portfolio or case studies of local SEO results, ideally with before‑and‑after ranking maps (required). Ability to lead the content creations for the business to help improve local rankings. Nice to have Home services industry experience Familiarity with call-tracking platforms Experience with Yelp or Angi advertising High understanding of the changing AI landscape of search and how to stay in front of that change.
