Development Chef

Position Summary :
The Development Chef, under the guidance of the Director of Culinary R&D, is responsible for generating product samples on the bench, incorporate recipe modifications, evaluate and modify manufacturing processes and prepare associated technical product documents. Work with existing and newly discovered ingredients and technologies to support the development of new recipes and culinary concepts.

Work with existing and newly discovered ingredients and technologies to support the development of new recipes and culinary concepts.
Job Responsibilities :
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, and Sales to innovate, create, and launch new products, transition from concept to commercialization while continuously improving the quality, process, and cost of existing products.
- Partner with R&D and Sales to generate innovative product ideas and develop samples to meet customer requests, including creating and presenting samples to customers.
- Evaluate and provide suggestions to improve existing formulas to ensure continuous improvement of quality and cost.
- Research current consumer markets, ingredients, and technologies to develop new product formulas along with white paper concepts based on specific requests from the Director and Sales.
- Thoroughly document the results of recipe development, cooking yields, and descriptive qualities and food compliance.
- Communicating and cooperating with technical and commercial colleagues in procurement, sales, Quality, technical services, marketing, and distribution.
- Guide and educate junior staff on ingredient use and functionality.
- Organize and maintain the R&D kitchen in a clean and orderly condition.
- Ensure compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food safety and sanitation.
- Assist with administrative work and other duties or projects as assigned.
- Strong understanding of Food Safety and Compliance in H.A.C.C.P and GMPs.
- Understand food production and manufacturing, restaurant operations, distribution, and food safety.
- Must possess technical aptitude to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Well-balanced interpersonal skills; Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, customers, and outside vendors.
- Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing, both in general correspondence, as well as on technical issues.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as the ability to learn and effectively utilize other software applications used within the Company.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and use strong organization skills to establish a course of action to accomplish specific goals.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently and provide direction to support toles to accomplish department tasks.
- Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
Physical Demands
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- The employee is occasionally lift to 15 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Ability to adjust focus.
- This is a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Warehouse, Distribution, and production Floor are subject to exposure to extreme temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors and moving equipment.
- AA or AS in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field required.
- BA or BS in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
- Food Handler Certification required (company pays for certification)
- ServSafe Certified.
- HACCP Certification preferred but not required (company pays for certification)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of Food Manufacturing or Product Development. Education and related certifications will be considered in lieu of direct work experience.
