The I‑CARE (Infectious Complications Assessment and Research) lab at BMC/BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine focuses on improving outcomes for individuals with or at risk for infections such as HIV and hepatitis C. The Program Manager leads planning and execution of research initiatives, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline targets are met and making operational decisions to support research objectives.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Research Project Implementation Collaborates with the PI to recommend, create, and implement changes across the research portfolio. Provides program‑level direction on protocols, SOPs/MOPs, data collection procedures, clinical and data quality management plans, data collection instruments, and training materials. Facilitates protocol adherence, data and clinical quality assurance activities, and ensures timely data collection and timeline adherence to achieve study goals. Provides input on data cleaning and analysis; assists investigators with data interpretation and preparation of study reports. Ensures recruitment goals are met and contributes to recruitment and retention strategies. Collaborates with the PI and team to develop presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts, with lead or co‑authorship opportunities. Regulatory and Financial Management Develops and submits annual progress reports to external funding agencies (e.g., NIH). Manages IRB protocols, including new protocol development, amendments, staff training compliance, adverse event reporting, and progress reports. Works with the PI to develop budgets and conducts budget tracking and forecasting. Serves as liaison with funding sources and regulatory agencies to ensure clear communication and compliance. Administrative Support Ensures the smooth integration of all study components. Prepares communications on progress and findings for external stakeholders. Monitors policies to ensure compliance with government regulations and alignment with the organization’s mission. Coordinates monthly research meetings to review project status and leads other meetings as needed. Identifies funding sources and assists in grant proposal preparation (literature searches, budgets, supporting materials, grant writing). Personnel Management Leads employee selection in compliance with policies, guidelines, and applicable laws, working with Program Director, department managers, and Human Resources. Provides training, directs, chairs meetings, mentors, and fosters a commitment to quality and excellence. Monitors productivity and performance, identifying strengths, training needs, and operational effectiveness. Conducts performance evaluations and disciplines when appropriate, including termination procedures with proper documentation. Maintains personnel files, time‑off records, payroll requests, and vendor/sub‑contractor billing. Assists with orientation and supervision of interns, residents, and research assistants.EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in public administration or public health.EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five years of related work experience, including at least one year of leadership or supervisory experience.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Leadership and coordination of team members, effective resource allocation, and needs analysis. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a detail‑oriented approach to documentation. Experience in grant management, training, team building, program development/management, problem solving, and community building. Ability to achieve targeted results through motivation, mobilization, and delegation. Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, web usage, and social networking technologies. Compensation ranges from $53,000.00 to $77,000.00, based on experience, education, skills, and certifications. Total compensation includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, discretionary annual bonuses, merit increases, and paid time off.EEO STATEMENT
