Engineering a world of possibilities Mines Office of Research Administration is hiring a Proposal Analyst! In this dynamic and vital role, you will assist faculty in developing research and other sponsored proposals by formulating, compiling, reviewing, and submitting grant proposals from the Office of Research Administration (ORA). You will serve as a resource to faculty and administrators in the administration of sponsored research, specifically the submission of funding proposals to external organizations. This hybrid work model requires on‑campus presence at least twice per week. Primary Responsibilities Coordinate the information dissemination and proposal submission process for the School’s subrecipients, subcontractors, or third‑party contributors. Accurately incorporate the subrecipient’s proposal into the School’s proposal and budget. Navigate a large and diverse workload for differing sponsors. Budget for and submit proposals with cost share meeting School and sponsoring agency rules and regulations. Work with faculty to create institutionally approved proposal budgets, ensuring costs are allowable, allocable and reasonable. Determine completeness of proposals by confirming all agency and School requirements are met and necessary forms and certifications are prepared. Submit approved proposals on behalf of the School by the sponsor mandated deadline. Ensure proposal compliance with external agency, School and state of Colorado rules and regulations. Prioritize proposals to meet funding agency deadlines. Determine accuracy and completeness of a proposal; has authority to submit proposals in Cayuse 424. Perform cost negotiations with project sponsors and justify costs and school policies. Does not have institutional signature authority to sign any commitments of School resources or legally binding agreements. Institutional Data Repository Ensure accurate data entry into the data repository. Follow up with faculty to complete all sections in the data repository within the provided timeline. Track all proposals through the data repository and provide notice when they are ready for final sign off. Communication & Outreach Daily communication with faculty to ensure all information for a proposal submission, including the budget and supporting documentation, follows School and sponsor guidelines. Interpret and explain federal, School, or state regulations and policies to faculty and other School personnel. Maintain ongoing contact with sponsoring agencies and external personnel to educate on federal and state policies, ORA procedures, and School policy. Meet with faculty formally or informally to answer questions and assist with a proposal submission. Training and Process Improvement Provide formal and informal training to faculty members and departmental staff regarding school policy, procedures, and sponsoring agency rules and regulations. Support the Proposal Analyst unit, especially for large and complex proposal submissions. Participate in office‑wide process evaluation and reengineering efforts. Critically evaluate processes to improve efficiency and resource utilization. Recommend and lead improvement efforts when approved. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (associate’s degree may be substituted if it provides equivalent knowledge). Two years of research administration experience. Knowledge of regulations governing sponsored research. Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to critically analyze information and use problem‑solving skills. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Skill in establishing and fostering a cooperative work environment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Experience working in an Institute of Higher Education. Salary & Benefits $68,700 – $76,300 annual salary range.
