Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to join a school-based team supporting elementary students in a Special Day Class (SDC) setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young learners while providing individualized instruction, behavioral support, and academic interventions that help students reach their full potential.

The ideal candidate is passionate about special education, collaborative problem-solving, and creating a positive, structured learning environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Provide specialized instruction aligned with student goals and accommodations.

• Create and maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment.

• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate educational documentation.

• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local special education regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

• Valid state teaching certification as required by state and district regulations.

• Special Education Teaching Certification preferred and may be required by the district.

• Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred.

• Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred.

• Current CPR certification, if applicable.

• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.

• Current health certificate, if required.

• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Compliance with all professional standards of practice.

• Student Population: 1st and 2nd Grade

• Caseload Cap: 13 Students

• Schedule: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

• Lunch: 30-Minute Unpaid Lunch

• Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
