Job Summary:The Principal serves as the instructional and cultural leader of the school, responsible for fostering academic excellence, ensuring a strong school culture, and leading a high-performing team. Reporting to the Chief of Schools, the Principal is responsible for creating an environment where scholars thrive academically and socially, while fully embodying Milwaukee College Prep’s mission and values. The Principal works closely with Academic Deans, Deans of Students, and other leadership team members to drive scholar achievement and uphold high expectations for all.Essential Responsibilities:A. School Culture & LeadershipProactively engage with administrators, staff, scholars, and families to maintain a school-wide focus on academic and social excellence.Implement and reinforce the belief that “students don’t fail school, schools fail students”, ensuring all scholars receive the support they need to succeed.Oversee the school schedule to optimize instructional time and staff effectiveness.Lead and coordinate school-wide events, including assemblies, awards ceremonies, family engagement nights, and scholar celebrations.Maintain a strong presence throughout the school, particularly in classrooms, hallways, and transition times (arrival, dismissal, lunch, etc.).Collaborate with leadership to reinforce MCP’s core values of Trust, Respect, Empathy, Courage, and Kindness.B. Instructional Leadership & Teacher DevelopmentLead the August staff training for new and returning staff, ensuring strong alignment to MCP instructional priorities.Provide ongoing coaching and professional development, ensuring all staff effectively implement best teaching practices.Work with Academic Deans to conduct formal teacher evaluations twice per year.Serve as the chair of the hiring committee for campus-level staff.Lead staff meetings to drive instructional excellence and team cohesion.Monitor teacher morale and implement strategies to foster a supportive and high-performing school culture.Conduct monthly observations and coaching conversations with all staff members to ensure continuous improvement.Collaborate with the Special Education team and teachers to develop strategies for supporting both struggling and high-achieving scholars.Serve as the Campus Assessment Coordinator, ensuring data is used effectively to drive instruction and improve scholar outcomes.Ensure all staff meet current licensing standards, including PI 34.Analyze assessment data to identify instructional strengths, areas for growth, and professional development needs.Establish tutoring programs and intervention strategies to support scholar achievement.C. Scholar Growth & PerformanceSet and uphold ambitious scholar achievement goals, ensuring the school meets or exceeds performance benchmarks.Establish and maintain a results-driven school culture, where all scholars demonstrate dramatic academic growth.Implement MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) and other data-driven intervention strategies to meet scholar needs.Oversee school-wide behavioral expectations to create a safe, structured, and joyful learning environment.Partner with the Dean of Students and instructional team to ensure all scholars receive the academic and social-emotional support needed for success.D. Family & Community EngagementBuild strong partnerships with families, reinforcing a “family-school” atmosphere that supports scholar success.Moderate and facilitate difficult conversations between teachers and parents as needed.Organize and host monthly parent meetings, workshops, and engagement opportunities to strengthen the school-home connection.Actively engage with community organizations and external partners to enhance scholar experiences and provide additional resources.Job Parameters:Must hold a valid WI Principal License.12-month contract with responsibilities throughout the academic year and summer planning.Vacation:4 weeks between late June and mid-July.School breaks include Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and other designated staff vacation days.10 paid personal days per year.Work Hours:7:30 AM – 5:00 PM on school days, with additional commitments for special events (conferences, family nights, staff meetings, etc.).Full benefits package, including:Life, health, and dental insurance.Retirement plan eligibility with up to 5% employer match.ducation & ExperienceMaster’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.Prior experience in teaching and instructional leadership required.Experience leading a school or a large instructional team preferred.Proven track record of improving scholar achievement in an urban school setting preferred.Skills & AttributesDeep belief in Milwaukee College Prep’s mission, vision, and values.Passion for educational equity and scholar success.Strong instructional leadership, with the ability to coach and develop high-performing educators.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with scholars, families, staff, and external stakeholders.Data-driven mindset, using assessment and observation data to drive scholar and teacher growth.Resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
